Why the Bill Nye Debate With Ken Ham Matters

Did the debate between Bill Nye and Ken Ham change anybody's mind, or did it only reinforce the viewers' current beliefs on the topic? Personally, my view wasn't changed. I do think that this debate helped the Creationist position because most well known  Evolutionists and Atheists would rather not have Creationists like Ken Ham given any credibility. For this reason, you don't see the Atheist Richard Dawkins Foundation  supporting such an event (see Why Bill Nye shouldn't debate Ken Ham). Sadly, now Pat Robertson has injected himself in the debate by criticizing Ken Ham (and every other Young Earth Creationist) by stating  "We have skeletons of dinosaurs that go back 65 million years...To say it all dates back to 6,000 years is just nonsense...No one knows what caused the Big Bang, but I say God did it..Let's be real, Let's not make a joke of ourselves." The ironic thing is that the liberal media outlets like The Huffington Post (see Pat Robertson Disagrees With Creationist Ken Ham, Says 'Let's Not Make A Joke Of Ourselves') are finally embracing Pat Robertson and his opinions. Go figure. The debate is a big win for Creationists and Ken Ham in general.  Whether you think Bill Nye or Ken Ham won the debate doesn't matter because now, much to the chagrin of groups like the Richard Dawkins Foundation, the Creationist platform is being discussed and given credibility. It, also, has many talking about God and Christianity. Sorry Atheists. Because of this, I give this round to God and the Creationists who are the big winners this week. However, I have no doubt God wins in the end. Well played God, well played.
